In Focus: ADRIAN Grating Tights

Hi Creative and Fashionable people!

Here is my review on ADRIAN's Grating Tights:

I ordered this and the ADRIAN City Tights from Legwear4men back in last month. At first look it is pretty similar to the ADRIAN City Tights as they are both 60 denier. I got an L size for this one. At first look, its waistband looks like what you would find in a Calvin Klein boxer shorts. The first thing I did was to wash them and I hung them dry for the night. At first feel putting them on... it felt just a tiny bit tight which is pretty normal due to the Lycra content. After pulling them up. It feels pretty durable and it feels soft on my legs. The seams were flat and the Argyle pattern goes all the way up ending at the waistband. After wearing it awhile with shorts, these are sheer to waste with reinforced toes. The patterns were stitched on. I pretty almost forgot I had them on as I was out... until I moved my legs as I was standing in public transport. So far, I'm only getting a few looks, well the sort of looks where my legs are the daydreaming point. However after I got home and washed them, I noticed something...the patterns started showing signs of slight fraying. And I noticed that the fraying were only at my thighs where my shorts had coverage on, the patterns that were exposed didn't have any frays(probably caused by constant rubbing as I was walking) I suppose I would be paying more than £9.99 if the patterns weren't stitched on but printed...

Slight fraying can be seen on the gray pattern.

Overall I would say I'm pretty pleased with the ADRIAN Grating Tights, I probably will order the other colour at a larger size.

Hi Creative and Fashionable people!

After about a week, my ActivSkin tights have arrived!

I will be doing a review on them in the days or weeks to come, I still do remember that I still got reviews to be done on the ADRIAN Grating Argyle tights. Meanwhile it's time for me to wash them first! Most importantlyI showed it to my dad and talked about the health benefits of wearing support tights! And he said that it would be good for wearing it in colder places! Wow! Now even acceptance from my DAD!

Special Spotlight: Interview with Brain&Beast - Barcelona

Hi Creative and Fashionable people!

Legwear Fashion For Men has recently done an exclusive interview with Spanish Fashion label Brain & Beast from Barcelona. Enjoy the read!

1)Can you provide the readers at Legwear Fashion For Men with some background information about yourself, your label and your career as a Fashion designer? - I have studied fashion design at Madrid and London. After finishing my studies and working for different mainstream brands, I decided to start my own project. First I was established in Madrid but after 5 years I moved to Barcelona and I found Cesar and Veronica ... my partners in Brain&Beast. Since then, we show our collections in 080 Barcelona Fashion Week and at every six months we sell our clothes in Paris , we also have recently launched our ONLINE STORE, www.brainandbeast.bigcartel.com

Brain&Beast Collection otoño-invierno 2011/2012

2) What was your inspiration behind the Brain&Beast Collection otoño-invierno 2011/2012? - The name was MAGIC. Things that hide things, illusions, the main topic was "everything is possible"!

3) In your Brain&Beast Collection otoño-invierno 2011/2012, I have noticed that with some of the male models, you have used tights as part of the style with shorts. As we all know that tights are usually worn by women, what motivated you to use tights as part of your designs? - It was part of the inspiration ... girls will be boys and boys can be girls, sometimes ,,, there is no border between masculine and feminine ... Lets try to pass old ideas about whats right in your wardrobe ,,, fell free!

Brain&Beast Collection otoño-invierno 2011/2012

4) In the recent years many designers such as Givenchy, Antonio Azzuolo, Prada, Miharayasuhiro, Agnès B. and also another Spanish designer Selim de Somavilla have been using tights/hosiery for their menswear collections, did their works influence you to feature hosiery or were you inspired by other factors? - We really admire all of them but someone´s work has never been part of our inspiration ... we try to follow our own concept and we think its part of a normal development in menswear fashion to take things from classic womenswear attitudes ...

5) Did you use any particular brand of hosiery for the Brain&Beast Collection otoño-invierno 2011/2012? - Thick ones! Winter is cold!

6) Has there been any positive feedback on your inclusion of adding hosiery as part your collection for male models? Also how did your male models react to putting them on?
- They were behaving quite normal! It was not a handicap!

Brain&Beast Collection otoño-invierno 2011/2012

7) Tights were, of course, originally won by men. In recent years they are clearly to be coming popular again - for their comfort and practicality, as well as a fashion trend. Do you see this trend continuing and tights for men becoming more mainstream? - Straight guys could be more openminded but ... there is such a big social pressure about the right man ... u know ...

8) There has been a huge amount of media coverage of 'mantyhose' (tights and pantyhose for men) in recent months, with some brands, such as Emilio Cavallini, now marketing tights as unisex. Do you have any plans to create a line of men's or unisex tights? - We would love to....

9) Do you think collections such as yours are encouraging men to be more adventurous in how they dress? - We try to offer pieces that help you to be happier ... getting a Brain&Beast item should be a pleasure...

10) What plans do you have for the future? Are you working on ideas for further collections?
- Actually we are currently working on our new resort collection that will be launched in Nov 2012 and next winter 2013-2014 collection, the show will be on Jan 2013 and it seems far ... but january will arrive soon!

Thank you Angel for taking the time to answer these questions, I hope that our readers at Legwear Fashion For Men Blog will enjoy reading and looking at your works and we hope to hear more from you in your future collections where you might feature men's hosiery in your works!

Cristiano Ronaldo in Tights

Hi Creative and Fashionable people!

A few days ago as I was exploring LAUF, I saw a very interesting post and I'd thought I share with you all here at Legwear Fashion For Men, it was on the topic of male celebrities in tights, and my main focus is on Portuguese Star Footballer Cristiano Ronaldo who plays for Real Madrid in the Spanish La Liga.

Here are some photos of him in tights:

Most of you might know Ronaldo is a person with style and good looks, as you can see in the photos, he wears tights with confidence, not bothering to hide and wear them under long pants, he wears them proud with football training shorts! WOW! Imagine when more of us guys actually do it openly!

Miharayasuhiro Fall / Winter 2012/2013

Hi Creative and Fashionable people!

As I was looking through Men wearing Tights with Shorts tumblr page and started looking through at some fashion designers shows on Youtube, I watched Miharayasuhiro's Fall / Winter 2012/2013 show and I noticed some styles actually featured hosiery to a certain degree.

Visit Miharayasuhiro's site

Here is a video of Miharayasuhiro Fall / Winter 2012/2013 show:

One could notice that many fashion designers are starting to integrate hosiery as part of menswear. Earlier today I had a conversation with Rob Stephenson, a fellow advocate of mens hosiery about wearing tights out; and we both came to a conclusion that if there is anyway to make this trend of making men wear hosiery something of a mainstream, it is just to treat it as it is already mainstream. Just keep on wearing it out, don't act too suspicious and weird about yourself wearing it. Just treat it like as if you don't have them on at all if you want.. in fact actually you might even forget that you have them on at all in the first place if you have. worn them for hours. I'm sure you will get the looks and all.. I mean come on.. it is pretty normal. Just remember the first woman started wearing pants.. what she did was she just wore them like as if they were already mainstream though it was somehow thought to be scandalous.

I'd say.. just start wearing it out! If you want tasteful fashion tips on how to wear them out, just on a lookout for this blog or check out how fashion designers match them with various different clothing.

In Focus : ADRIAN City Tights

Hi Creative and Fashionable people!

Here is my review on ADRIAN's City Tights :

I ordered this and the ADRIAN Argyle Grating Tights from Legwear4men a few weeks back. At first look it is pretty similar to the ADRIAN Grating Argyle Tights as they are both 60 denier. I got an L size for this one, it feels soft at first touch and the softness is felt throughout as I had them on. The male comfort panel is indeed comfortable. Opacity coverage is good overall and it also gives a slight shine. The skin show stretch shows at the heel, knee cap and the thighs(possibly because I got pretty broad thighs). These are Sheer to waist, no reinforced toes.I also noticed that they aren't very stretchy. However they feel pretty robust which I believe will last for many wears.
I'm weighing at 93kg or 203lb and my height is 179cm or 5'10 I recommend getting a XL if you are around my weight and height. Overall they feel pretty comfortable to be in. I give this tights 4 out of 5 stars.

Price :
£6.99

Material content : 60 Denier Tights 85% Polyamide and 15% Lycra

Pros : Soft, Good opacity coverage, economical for a European brand, good male comfort panel

Cons: Lacks stretchable qualities.

Out with tights with shorts, First Time

Hi Fashionable and Creative people!

Today I have made a public declaration... well in a way.. that I'm a gentleman that wears tights in public and in shorts! I didn't really get a lot of stares, typically the people in Singapore here just probably look for awhile and then not bother.. I found my legs being the point of where people look at to daydream while I was taking the mass rapid transit train (SMRT) And the place I was heading to was to church! Hahahaha! Thank God I'm from a contemporary and creative church! I'm a Christian and actively serving as well. Interestingly I got a lot of smiles and compliments about my ADRIAN tights!

I will be doing a review soon on the ADRIAN Grating Tights.

Men Wearing Tights Tumblr Page

Hi Creative and Fashionable people!

Recently on LAUF a French gentleman has graciously complimented Legwear Fashion For Men blog and himself also posted a link to his tumblr page Men Wearing Tights With Shorts.

At first look one could notice runway photos of Selim de Somavilla models in tights! I have featured Selim de Somavilla in a previous post here. Other than photos one can find many helpful links to which variety tights men can look for to buy and various links to other similar sites like Hosiery For Men, Chan Kraemer's Mantyhose site and Legwear Fashion For Men Blog too!

Vorher Nachher Show & Men's Tights

Hi Creative and Fashionable people!

As I was looking around Youtube, I watched a clip from a German TV show titled Vorher Nachher Show(which was probably shot in the 80s or the 90s?) It featured a portion of a man wearing tights! Most interestingly, the guest whom they invited was himself wearing tights under his suit pants! Wow!

Here is the video clip!

Seems like the notion of men wearing tights is something that has been perceived decades ago! Not looking at the renaissance of course! Haha!

Stylish Fox's Mens Tights/Leggings Catalogue

Hi Creative and Fashionable people!

I read about Stylish Fox's new addition from my dear friend of Hosiery For Men who posted recently here http://hosieryformen.blogspot.sg/2012/09/adrian-mens-tights-now-available-at.html

What really interested me was the Moro 60 denier camouflage pattern Tights for men

It was something new that I didn't even see ADRIAN site or Legwear4men carry in their online catalogues.
As far as I'm aware this is the 2nd camouflage patterned Tights made for men. The first one that I encountered was Activskin's A894 Thermofabric Camouflage Tights

The A894 Thermofabric tights has many good reviews from its consumers, and I'm looking forward to owning the Moro and A894 Camouflage tights and will be looking forward to do a review on them!

Styling back in 2010 & We Love Colors

Hi Creative and Fashionable people!

This is a collage of a styling I did back in 2010 with We Love Colors Nylon/Lycra/MicroFiber Solid Color Tights.

We Love Colors also stocks Men's Tights in their catalogue, the styles they include are "Solid Color Nylon Mens Tights", "Splash Color Nylon Tights", "Plus Size Mens Tights", "Splash Color Plus Size Tights", "Mens Performance Tights", "Splash Color Mens Performance Tights", "Mens Footless Performance Tights", "Splash Color Mens Footless Performance Tights". Prices differ between the styles you choose, the Solid Color Nylon Tights are US$8.00 whereas the Splash Color Nylon Mens Performance Tights go at US$45.00

WeLoveColors' Nylon/Lycra MicroFiber Solid Color Tights in Purple.

Though the style I got wasn't in the Mens Tights catalogue, but I wanted something longer lasting, hence I chose the Solid Color MicroFiber Tights due to its durability and it only costed US$12.50..but it felt pretty small when I tried it on, I had a M/L which I ordered according to my height which is about 1.78m or 5"8. The coverage was great I must say as you can see from the photos. If you are a guy on a smaller size, you could try it!

Another pair I ordered but wasn't included in the photos were the Nylon Lycra Tights in Black which was on sale at US$5.00(For black only) though it was one size fits all kind but it fitted me very very well. It was pretty comfy and pretty long lasting.

WeLoveColors' Nylon/Lycra Solid Color Tights in Black

One thing I noticed about the tights I ordered from WeLoveColors are that they were manufactured in Taiwan. I would say I was quite pleased with its quality nevertheless.

Givenchy's Fall/Winter 2011 / 2012 / 2013

Hi Creative and Fashionable people!

I saw videos on Youtube on Givenchy's Fall/Winter 2011 / 2012 / 2013 for men and I was really intrigued that they actually used what it looks like to be tights!!

Givenchy's Fall/Winter 2011/2012

Givenchy's Fall/Winter 2012/2013

I have checked out Givenchy's website www.Givenchy.com and according to the descriptions for some of the outfits from the Fall/Winter 2012 that they actually used Jersey Leggings and "wool socks"(see the Pre Collection page and you will know they aren't just wool socks) I have found a link from Luisaviaroma(www.luisaviaroma.com) that sells popular fashionable brands from Givenchy, Emilio Cavallini, Yves Saint-Laurent and etc. I'm really glad seeing that many popular fashion designers are looking at incorporating tights into their designs!

In Focus : Aristoc 120 Denier Cotton Sheen Opaque tights

Hi Creative and Fashionable people! I thought I'd give a review on the Aristoc 120 Denier Cotton Sheen Opaque Tights:

As a follower of Hosiery For Men's blog I read that there was an exclusive competition in the March 2012 blog post where the winners would win a pair of tights and so I retweeted the Tweet in which Tightsplease tweeted, and I found myself one of the lucky or blessed few to have won a pair of Tights!

Priced at £20.49, it definitely isn't your cheap drug store purchase sort of tights. Being in Summer all year round Singapore, I wonder how was I going to wear this 120 denier tights.. it was definitely the sort one would wearing during colder months.. Nevertheless I did try wearing it out on days where I felt colder and it was a really nice fit! The seams were flat, "legs" were long for my legs, it gives ample warmth with its cotton blend  and it is definitely an Aristoc seal of quality. The only thing I probably didn't like was that the waist was pretty high past my navel. It is pretty long lasting and it is still lasting me through. Although it is 120 denier, it's coverage looks more of a 80 denier kind. Overall I give this pair of tights 3.5 out of 5 stars.

Material content : 120 Denier Reinforced Toe Cotton Gusset 58% Nylon 38% Cotton 4% Elastane

The Genesis

Greetings all! I am Andreas or some may call me Lucius by my middle name, I am an Artist who works as a Photographer in a Baby Photography Studio based in Singapore. I have a website for my artistic services on here.

The reason why I came up with this blog is because I feel that there is more to menswear than just the typical suits, shirts, tie and shoes. My main focus here would be the controversial and not-so-new pantyhose for men.. or some coin it as "Mantyhose" along with other apparels for men. I have been inspired by many bloggers such as Hosiery For Men, Hosiery Advocate & Tights For Men who mostly do reviews on various hosiery that would fit men. The one thing that really pushed me to start this has got to be attending the ACA(American Creativity Association) Conference 2012 at Singapore late August in 2012. Challenged to be creative, I decided to do and start something new and creative.

I have always liked the look and the feel of tights, it gives a very nice and smooth finish to the wearer's legs portraying perfection to the legs. And of course not to mention the warmth, comfort and medical benefits some patterns would give. Most importantly, there are much more to play with in terms of mixing and matching with other clothes, now I'm not looking at crossdressing but mixing tastefully and correctly with other mens' apparel. (For the record, I am Straight and as straight as a metal ruler could be.)

I have to say that I really admire Chan Kraemer the owner of Mantyhose.net who have in a way paved the way for "Mantyhose" to be made known to the world that men too can don tights and look great and manly at the same time! I also salute the famous Italian fashion designer Emilio Cavallini who came up with bold and yet creative styles of unisex pantyhose!
Photo of Chan Kraemer from Mantyhose.net

Image from Emilio Cavalini's website http://www.emiliocavallini.com
I see Men's Hosiery like how Elizabeth Smith Miller(1822-1911) saw with pants, just in case if you don't know who she is.. she was the first woman also a Women's Right Advocate and financial supporter who wore pants and that caused a reform in women's dress code... with repercussions of course.. one could imagine the persecutions she would have faced. But look now! Women wear pants freely without being sniggered at.

Designs by French Designer Yves Saint Laurent

I would like to end with a quote by George Bernard Shaw:

Thank you for reading as I had the pleasure of blogging it! :)
